tenshinoakuma: (just pull the cork)
Spent the weekend gaming at [livejournal.com profile] shimering2's house again! Most of it was P3:FES, the Answer. I think we're pretty close to finishing, now! Though we had to go back and level grind because ha ha Akihiko and Yukari were 20 levels behind and we needed them for the next boss fight :\

In which Junpei is the BEST bro. Gameplay things + comparing Ken with Onion Knight. )

I also went for steamboat for the first time in many years! It was delicious and filling and it also reminded me of how much I kind of suck at face to face communication. Gotta work on that, I guess!
tenshinoakuma: (rappigs don't go there)
I got a B+ on my piano exam! This is really hard to get in 8th Grade apparently, relative equivalent of an A in 6th Grade! Supposedly my piano teacher got a B in hers * A*

Destiny Odyssey (Bartz, Terra, Warrior of Light) + Shade Impulse (Onion Knight) and how to punish Chaos for trifling with the warriors of Cosmos! )
tenshinoakuma: (fail personified)
2nd of what will hopefully be just 3 Dissidia spammings before I stop playing so I can study for exams. I MIGHT BE A BIT RAMBLY BECAUSE I'M FUNCTIONING ON 4 HOURS OF SLEEP.

Mostly gameplay and AI thoughts, though. Squall, Zidane, Onion Knight )

UNFORTUNATELY PSPS SEEM TO HAVE PRETTY SHORT BATTERY LIFE COMPARED TO A DS, and the fact the green, flashing low battery life light is UNDER MY RIGHT HAND, my PSP's battery died just when I started fighting Cloud of Darkness 8|
tenshinoakuma: (joyful exercise !)
This was meant to be a post about non-standard formatting, but I just recently got my PSP and I ended up starting up Dissidia despite not having finished exams yet.

To celebrate, have all the (stupid) pictures of Cloud in a dress I drew on every whiteboard I came across. )

Dissidia babble. tl;dr Ten is bad at fighting games and is a masochist )

Edit: I also hear FFX's Spira and FF7's Planet are the same universe? THIS SOUNDS VERY FASCINATING and Dissidia + this makes me more than willing to try and actually complete FFX.
tenshinoakuma: (joyful exercise !)
Quick, someone beat me in the face before my ego inflates any further!! /can handle criticism fine but praise makes a Ten explode??

Also, linked from [livejournal.com profile] radio_aspen, possibly one of the coolest things I've seen recently.

I seem to be all creatived out, so I guess I'll take a break from writing and drawing for a while and work on things like presentations and exams 8( I did play some more FF7 after my piano exam (was alright, could've gone better but wasn't TOO bad. The piano keys were really stiff though sob) and I can't believe how little cash I'm running around with. I blame all the Fort Condor visits, but seriously I resorted to selling my Ethers for money! I don't remember ever having money troubles in a Final Fantasy game before! In fact, I was so short on cash I couldn't play any of the Wonder Square games (except Mog House) in the Gold Saucer after paying for single ticket. THAT WAS SO TRAGIC. TRAGIC I tell you! ; A;

I. I DON'T THINK I CAN GET OVER HOW FUNNY THIS GAME IS ASFGHJKJ;K even some of the instruction menus have character and humour.

I also swapped my Steal Materia from Red to Aeris and... I'm pretty sure steal is supposed to be based off dex (which I'm sure Red has more of than Aeris) yet Aeris is doing a much better job at it. I wonder if it's because she's actually got thumbs, or if it's because of her sneaky personality...

EDIT: Some short blah blah blah about TWEWY. Neku is an interaction whore )
tenshinoakuma: (You know what this is)
I managed to get ff7 working, which has resulted in me drawing terrible things like this (contains silly and panties).

Thoughts on replaying the beginning of FF7 )
tenshinoakuma: (Fuck i forgot the sundae)
So, I didn't finish that previous post on the Answer, did I? Here's the rest of it.

In which I talk about the story/character part of what I've played so far )

In WoW news, I am a bad healer but it is so fun.

999 + DMW40

9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors
I've been hit with the post Christmas sick thanks to the food I've eaten, so in the moments where I haven't been feeling like a miserable pile of crap with a massive headache, I've been cycling between playing Kirby Superstar and 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors aka 999. The main reason for the cycling (usually when I cycle between games, it's to keep things fresh) is because 999 is surprisingly terrifying. In hindsight, I probably should have checked the genre before playing. So yeah, I don't play this game at night anymore.

Anyway, any spoilers regarding 999 will appropriately marked in this post.

More like 999ightmares )
tl;dr I think 999 is a really good game! And really well written (aside from a few stray grammatical errors here and there) It's just not a game that really sits completely comfortably with me due to the game style.

Deadman Wonderland 40
'Sup ceiling Toto.

In which I talk about what a lazy consumer I am. And about how I have no idea what is going on anymore. Some spoilers from earlier chapters. )
TL;DR I FEEL LIKE HOW GANTA FELT. CONFUSED.

Hopefully, this is the last Castlevania related entry for a while. Sorry for the spam! Again, this entry will be split into two.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. In which Alucard dies many stupid deaths before he stops taking shit from Castlevania's inhabitants and smacks everything around )

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. In which Soma makes out with candelabras and mudmen )

Also, I want to draw some AWESOME Castlevania art. The picture I have in mind? Soma and all the souls he obtains. I'll let you know when I start crying.
tenshinoakuma: (Default)
Okay so it occurs to me that I haven't really actually put down my thoughts on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow yet. I'm sure some of you chat denizens have heard me spam you while I've been playing, though there's also a lot more that I've played while no one's been in. So, from the beginning:

Firstly, THAT IS NOT CASUAL CLOTHING )

THAT SAID, the game is amazingly fun homg I cannot stop playing.

TIME TO GRIND FOR CASH :|

Me: /about to go to Route 204 after catching nothing but Bidoofs and Geodudes (and 1 Abra)
Me: WISH ME LUCK, LUKE!
Luke: GOOD LUCK!
Luke: BIDOOF BIDOOF BIDOOF BIDOOF
Game: A WILD BIDOOF APPEARS!
Me: I HATE YOU, LUKE.

Me: /convinces Luke to join [livejournal.com profile] zergling and I in Nuzlocke Hell with his Platinum game
Luke: WHO SHOULD I PICK?
Me: /dicerolls
Me: Chimchar
Luke: WHAT
Luke: NOOO

Battle Record )
tenshinoakuma: (join everyone else on the FAILroad)
So. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zergling, I have now started a Pokémon Pearl Nuzlocke game. If you're not familiar with the challenge, original/basic rules are:

1) Once a Pokémon faints, you have to release it.
2) You can only catch the first Pokémon on a Route/Cave/whatever. So if you faint that Pokémon without catching it, you can't catch another Pokémon on that Route.

In Pearl, there's a short sequence in the first Route you pass through on the way to Sandgem town where you can't catch Pokémon, so I allowed 2) not to come into effect until I got some Pokéballs. Every Pokémon I encountered was a Starly. I thought it'd be pretty funny if the first Pokémon I encountered once I got me some balls was a Bidoof.

Guess what my first Pokémon was?

I thought, oh. Well. I guess I could backtrack to the lake to get a Starly.

"A WILD BIDOOF APPEARED!"

... I thought, well, maybe I can catch a wild Shinx on the way out of Sandgem town...

"A WILD BIDOOF APPEARED!"

ALRIGHT this post is going to have significant tl;dr about Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 and a little for 358/2 Days, along with some tangentially related gaming mechanics and writing stuff. I have a love-meh relationship with Square most of the time, and this is no exception.

Kingdom Hearts )

Kingdom Hearts II )

Overall, they were games I enjoyed, but I can't say I'm terribly interested in Kingdom Hearts material because I just can't get into the plot. I'll add that I'm enjoying the manga adaptations because they're so cracky xD
tenshinoakuma: (ararara?)
Spent the whole day gaming because I wasn't in the mood to do anything else, so I played Time Hollow from start to end. A pretty average game and not really something if you want a point and click adventure game that's meaty with the art/story/characterisation. It's also really easy to figure out what you need to do, so it ends up being a pretty short game; it took me about 7 hours to complete. I primarily picked it up for time manipulation shenanigans, and it does most of the time hole stuff pretty well. But in the end there's probably only two instances that stood out to me:

1) When you do your timestop thing and try to examine one of the girl's skirt/boobs, the main character is like NO NO NO I CAN'T DO THAT. Or NO THAT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.
2) The main character getting stabbed. That was pretty hot.

There's also a cute shotaro boy. Complete with cute dog!

All in all, Time Hollow's a pretty average game, but if you've got nothing better to do, it's not a bad game to pick up. There's a few cute things in it, too, so yeah.
