Spent the weekend gaming at [livejournal.com profile] shimering2's house again! Most of it was P3:FES, the Answer. I think we're pretty close to finishing, now! Though we had to go back and level grind because ha ha Akihiko and Yukari were 20 levels behind and we needed them for the next boss fight :\

I think the game's gotten significantly easier now that we have Ken and Yukari with Mediarama; I can actually rely on them to keep the party alive and kicking (except when they start running 'low' on SP), which frees Aigis up to work on all the crowd control.

I think one of the best parties we've had so far has been Aigis, Metis, Junpei and Ken; every single element and physical attack type are covered by this team, and we have a good balance between physical and magical damage, and healing. If a bit lacking on the magical damage, but usually Aigis fills that role, as I favour magic on my Persona main characters. I also have an accessory that removes Junpei's wind weakness, which is great. (The only reason Ken is currently not on my team for this boss fight is... well. They cast Mudoon :| )

In addition to that, Junpei and Ken's AI are incredibly easy to manipulate, and having Junpei's Marakukaja is a godsend. Plus Junpei has an incredibly tough Persona, so even when he gets smacked around with garu skills (before I got the accessory), he was actually taking less damage than other people who don't have it as a weakness. Spring of Life makes him even more prone to not dying and he always gets critical hits at the best times. The BEST times! I have to say, the more I play P3, the more I love Bropei. How you've grown since Akihiko found you in Paulownia Mall ♥

(Why is the dog the first character to learn their -dyne skills?)

I do have to admit, I didn't really like Ken very much when I first played P3, especially back when he was dead set on revenge. I'm not sure whether I like him more now because it's been a year+ since I've played the original game and I've gained some maturity since then, or if it's because Ken's change in character after his Persona upgraded appeals to me so much more, especially what I've seen of him in the Answer.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] shimering2 and I got into a conversation about how much Ken is like Onion Knight, in the 'kid trying to be an adult but is seriously still a kid inside' sense. I was shown a clip of when Minato goes to the movies with Ken and asdf;lkj Ken trying to appear composed but is actually REALLY EXCITED to see the superhero movies and fhal;sdfj best. I do think the two have a lot in common in personality, especially after Ken's epiphany.

In the Answer, (I think I mentioned this before) but Ken struck me as being the most level headed of the group despite being smashed in the face by Metis. He was the one who was thinking over Metis' words and what has happened and trying to make sense of what was going on, rather than going with knee jerk emotional reactions that the other SEES members had. He's also struck me as being fiercely independent (many of his lines before he joins your party in the Journey indicate he's used to taking care of himself) but genuinely grateful that he's now got people who can and will have his back. He does seem to have some arrogance in his better-than-you'd-think-for-his-age abilities judging from his battle quotes and DAT HAIRFLIP if he's the one to finish the battle. Doesn't want to be seen as 'the kid', and tries to put on a serious front, which sometimes slips when he gets super excited about stuff (lol movies). In the Answer, a lot of what he says seems to have been thought over before he says them. Also, orphan.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR.

I also went for steamboat for the first time in many years! It was delicious and filling and it also reminded me of how much I kind of suck at face to face communication. Gotta work on that, I guess!
