wut

It feels really weird to be updating so much what the.

I can't help but notice my Cloud gets beaten up a lot, which means he gets angry a lot I MEAN he gets lots of Limit Breaks. Like. A lot :|a

Back at Wall Market after the plate gets dropped.

- Return to the shop where you got the dress for Cloud and talk to the owner's son. "You're dressed normal today. If something else interesting comes up, let me in on it."
- Behind Don Corneo's bed is a Hyper. Maybe that's why he mistook Cloud for a girl..? Also the character on his bed means "Heaven". I can't read the other kanji around the area though. I can recognise the character for DEATH on the floor where his trapdoor is, though. Mum can't read all of it due to the image quality and DIFFERENT LANGUAGE but apparently the first two characters on the lantern mean "ancient heriatage"? And on the trap door, she says the first two are "dead sound". These are all literal translations, of course.
- Outside Honeybee Inn. "Hey!! It's you!! Sorry, but I already heard about you. In addition to dressing like a woman, it seems you like to smash and grind things. We only let cultured customers in! Got it!? Then you better leave!"

"I think you're full of it." I can't remember if Cloud being this chatty is because of Zack's memories or he was just that chatty in the original game compared to the other stuff in the FF7 Compilation.

"Oh yeah? Well to me, it looks like a golden shiny wire of hope."

I don't actually remember what the kanji on ShinRa's logo mea-- oh hello, shot of Cloud actually with the Buster Sword rendered.

DANGIT CLOUD WHY DO YOU CRIT WHEN YOU HIT BARRET

"Say, you're cute. Let me teach you some... things."
> Things?
> Um, I'm kinda in a hurry...

> Things
"Wipe that stupid look off your face. I was only going to teach you how to get to the next floor."

Maybe it's because I haven't actually watched Digimon Tamers before, but a lot of the aesthetics issues I had with Season 1 are like, non-existent in Tamers. Not as much inappropriate music timing, speech isn't stilted, much nicer animation, etc. I think a lot of this may be because it (probably) has a much better budget than the first two seasons. I still had a couple of WHAT HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT moments in the beginning, but I think that can be attributed to Takato being a weird kid, and because in universe there's Digimon card games and PC games, which, given the terms used in them, wouldn't be so far fetched to realise Takato's probably using terms from there.

ANYWAY what I meant to say is that I'm finding Tamers a lot slicker than the previous two seasons, so I'm enjoying it a lot more than I was expecting. What I found really interesting (and a very good move imo) is the decision to cut down on the number of active characters there are. One of the big flaws in the first two seasons is that there are a lot of active characters, especially if you include the Digimon. 14/16 in the first season, then 10/12 (not counting the older generation) in the second season. In the first two seasons, the character development was all on the humans. The Digimon were kind of shallowly defined. They were partners, but really for the most part, aside from maybe Gatomon and possibly Wormmon, there wasn't all that much development in the Digimon, so it really felt more like a cast of 7/8 and 5/6 in the first two seasons.

Tamers has a tighter group of 6, including Digimon, and as a result, it definitely feels like the story and character development feels tighter and more detailed. The Digimon's characters are more distinct and deeper, and even if I'm not much of a Rika fan, I can appreciate that the storytelling here is far more character focused than the previous two seasons, both due to a smaller cast and due to the fact it's the Digital world coming into the real world, not vice versa, so there's no need to 'explore' the world, as such, like in Season 1.

I really want to see what the rest of the season is like (only watched up to episode 10). I'm actually a little pinged by the fact the more pacifistic characters are the guys and the more war-like are the girls; a lot of what I've read/watched have it the other way around, so it's interesting to see the difference in portrayal.

One thing though. DIGIVOLVING IS SO MUCH NIGHTMARE FUEL. WHO THOUGHT IT'D BE A GOOD IDEA FOR DIGIVOLVING TO INVOLVE PEELING BACK THE FLESH OF DIGIMON TO REVEAL WHAT'S UNDERNEATH??
