DANGIT ASPEN
Jul. 9th, 2011 08:45 pmTHIS THIS THIS forever. Going out and educating myself on various aspects or references of a game is the story of my experience with games in the last few years. How many people went out and researched the Tarot story and Jungian psychology after playing Persona 3 and 4?
I've been watching Extra Credits, a weekly video commentary about games and "how they are made, what they mean and how we can make them better" thanks to
radio_aspen. It only takes about 7-8 minutes of your time a week to watch it, and it definitely gave me a new insight and appreciation for the games I love (and... don't quite love). I think the overall positive tone and the pride the series takes in pushing games as an artistic medium really makes me feel a greater sense of pleasure to be a part of this community that loves games. It is a mindset that I am wholly behind.
I was going to write a post on Birth By Sleep's Command system and how it makes spells useful, but I think I am going to play the flash games mentioned in Extra Credits' Games you might not have tried (or heard of) video (that I haven't already played) instead. p.s. I am so glee that some of the games I love made it on there! No points for guessing which.
