I THINK I DID A LITTLE MORE TWEWY THEORISING THAN I INTENDED TO from a conversation about Beat WHOOPS. Maybe I'll go into a TWEWY brain dump later (haven't done one of those in a while) when I'm not all brain dumped out. If I knew every person who has done incredible amounts of theorising on a different TWEWY character, I would keep them all in a cage to splurt out information as I need it.

I'll summarise the conversation (at least, the parts that aren't involved in one of the one-shots I'm working on).

  • From the Game, Neku learnt to open up. Shiki learnt to let go of her jealousy, Beat got PASSION and self worth.
  • Beat was fairly apathetic about his life and future, and didn't have much self worth prior to the Game; that was all tangled up in Rhyme. The real turning point in him gaining self worth and passion was the beginning of his week, when he saved Neku. There was no one else to do it. After the Game, he might backpedal a bit, but he'll put more effort in leading his life. (He would totally have a great career in manzai)
  • I should probably pay more attention to Beat.
  • Joshua is a vague character, leading to multiple interpretations. Joshua tends to be something of a plot device and is the one who moves the story along. It'd be more accurate to say he and possibly Mr. H are designed to house an idea of a character (I use him this way much of the time). My default interpretation is of a hypocritical guy that wants to change everything, and can, but simultaneously can't, while stubbornly refusing to change himself.
  • It's no accident Composers rise to their seat of power. The Game's purpose is to teach, Composers included. Joshua is the Composer of the ward all about change, yet he is stubbornly resistant to change. The other Composers are likely to be in similarly ironic situations.
  • I think Persona 3 is set in the Minato ward. I think the P3 manga-ka thinks so, too.
  • [FIC RECCING] Rhyme struggles to come to terms with a Shibuya without her partner. An introspective AU where Beat was erased in the first week instead of Rhyme. Which I am reminded I need to leave a review for.
  • Beat is totally a fire mage in WoW. If this was Magicka, he'd set himself on fire.
  • Rhyme one-shot related talking. Breaking fandom conventions forever.
  • Imprinting -> Inspiration -> Imagination.
  • The Upper Plane is a conglomerate of shared knowledge, like a more united Internet except you know all the information shared.
  • Joshua is such an elitist jerk, god.

NO ONION KNIGHT JOSHUA UPDATE oh my god why do I do this to myself :CCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
