[DeSu 2] 6th Day - Under Attack
< Prev | Index | Next >
[Ikebukuro - Sunset Blvd] [11:00]
Fumi and a flustered Hinako notice you and rush over...
Fumi: Ah, Hiro. Good timing, we were about to call you.
Hinako: It's a Septentrione! A new one!
Hinako: Supposedly it's somewhere around here... right, Fumi?
Fumi: That's right. Someone from JP's was fighting it elsewhere a moment ago...
Fumi: But I got a report that it moved toward Ikebukuro. We're planning to go support them.
> Any details yet?
> Why's it on the move?
Fumi: Mmm... We don't know much. The scene's in total chaos, though. Wonder if something happened.
Hinako: You guys, come on! Do your analysis later! We gotta go right now!
Hinako grabs your arm and starts running...
[They see the Septentrione... and Keita.]
Keita: Heh... What a monster. It's huge!
Fumi: Oh, there you are. That's the Septentrione this time. Apparently, it's called Mizar.
Hinako: Oh... Keita! We came to help!
Keita: ...Are you dense? I don't need any help. I can handle this by myself.
[Keita punches the arm of Mizar, which splits into smaller bodies. But they grow...]
Keita: What...?
Fumi: Ew... What is that? It's coming apart! When you attack it, it separates!
Fumi: ...And the part that comes off grows immensely. That rate of regeneration is amazing.
Hinako: Waaah! It came over here!
Keita: ...! Just you wait! I'm not going to let you sit there and ignore me.
[Keita punches it again, splitting the smaller Mizar again. The split up pieces rapidly grow again.]
Keita: Wh-What the hell? Is it trying to separate again?
Fumi: Hmm, I see. I suppose it has a tendency to separate when attacked.
Hinako: Oh no, everyone, look at that!
[The huge Mizar pulls away and drags itself away.]
Keita: Dammit, it ran off! Wait, you monster!
[Demons spawn in the area.]
Keita: Ptcht... Demons! And at a time like this...
Hinako: Keita, no! We have to do something about this place first! We'll fight with you!
Keita: Tch... Bastard. How can I be so ashamed...?
Keita: ...Fine. Don't get in my way!
[Battle Start!]
[One of the parts of Mizar uses Quick Growth.]
Io: Huh? Mizar's doing something strange. What's it doing...?
Otome: Huh. Mizar did something odd. We should be careful...!
[Upon defeating a small part of Mizar.]
[Hiro] You defeated a part of Mizar. It seems the small ones do not separate...
Keita: There, we beat it! The small ones don't split!
[Upon defeating all parts of Mizar and the demons, Mission Complete!]
Fumi: Well done. Unlimited replication, though... That's going to be trouble.
Hinako: Seriously, what was that!? No matter how much we hit it, more of them fell off...!
Keita: Tch... There was no end to it. If we left it be, it'd just get bigger.
Fumi: Its pattern has changed, unlike the past Septentriones. It's like it's learning... Hm?
JP's Member: Fumi! Everyone... Oh, thank goodness! Are you all safe!? What happened to Mizar?
Fumi: Mm, about that... The big one got away. We exterminated the split-off ones, though.
Fumi: So... what's going on? Has the main office made their damage assessment?
JP's Member: Yes, the report came in just now... But this one's different from the others.
JP's Member: The main Mizar splits off small ones when attacked. There's seemingly no limit to this.
JP's Member: Even when left alone, it splits off small ones over time and increases the numbers.
Fumi: Huh... so the big one divides naturally? This could put a kink in things.
JP's Member: Worse, the small ones grow into mid-sized ones before long... Then they split off small ones.
JP's Member: It keeps multiplying that way, doing increasing damage. The others are containing it, but...
Hinako: The others? Are they trying to defeat that big one at the source of all this?
JP's Member: No... That's impossible. The more we attack that, the more small ones there are.
JP's Member: Even if we could defeat it, the small ones grow too fast and outnumber us.
Hinako: N-No way...!
JP's Member: It's worrying... But right now, all we can do is defeat the ones that have split off.
Fumi: Even that's a slow downhill slide. Our forces are limited, and the enemy's aren't...
Fumi: It's only a matter of time before we're annihilated. We won't last a day. Hmmm...
JP's Member: They're discussing that at the main office, too. I hope they have a plan... Well then.
The JP's member leaves...
Hinako: Hey... were you serious, Fumi!? You really don't think we'll survive one day...?
Fumi: It was a rough estimate, but extrapolating outward... Mizar will be everywhere by tomorrow.
Keita: Tch... can't we do something? Isn't there a way to deal with the big one in one shot?
> What about demons?
> What about weapons?
Keita: So not a demon, then. What about the JP's trump card?
Fumi: Hmm... A trump card, huh? I don't know, so I can't really say.
> How about the magic circle?
> I found a magic circle.
Hinako: Wha...!? You mean to say there really is some secret weapon like that!?
Fumi: Well, yes. But... I don't think it'll be usable. It's under the Chief's control.
Keita: What kinda explanation is that? You better spill all the details, weirdo.
Fumi: Is he referring to me...? Because I've been told to keep quiet about it.
Fumi: Wait, you know what? I'm not happy you called me a weirdo. I'm not telling you anything.
Keita: You bitch...! What's wrong with calling a spade a spade?
Hinako: Ugh, enough is enough! Will you guys give it a rest!?
Fumi: Pbbbttt...
Keita: Oh, that's it! You little--!
> Why don't we ask him?
> You get along so well.
Fumi: ...Mmm, that's true. He does have a high opinion of Hiro.
Keita: Yeah, we shoulda done that from the start instead of asking this weirdo.
Fumi: There you go again, squirting that tiny trickle of thought from your gaping oral cavity.
Keita: ...What!? Who's got tiny thoughts!?
Hinako: THAT'S ENOUGH! Ugh, this is so stupid. I'm not sticking around for this!
You assuage Keita and Fumi's bickering before leaving...

Hinako: Ah, that's it! If we can find a demon for this situation like Shiva and Kama...
Fumi: I don't think we will. If any demon could do what we need, it'd have been used by now.
> What about weapons?
Hinako: Ehhh... I don't think that'll work. I heard before that no normal weapon had any effect.
Fumi: That's right. If nukes and the like actually worked, we'd have used them already.
Fumi: I can't think of any demons that could quickly defeat that thing, either.
Keita: So not a demon, then. What about the JP's trump card?

> I found a magic circle.

> You get along so well.
Hinako: These two are always like this. I guess in a way, they do get along...
Hinako: Hey... That gives me an idea. You get along with Yamato, right, Hiro?
Hinako: Why don't you go and ask Yamato for us!?
Fumi: ...Mmm, that's true. He does have a high opinion of Hiro.
