3DS things

Still in Malaysia. Still melting. Will probably write lots of holiday stuff later.

For those hanging on to Australia 3DS news, it's going to be AUS$349.95, available on the 31st of March. The poor kiwis have to pay NZ$453.00. If you're in WA, apparently you can try it out on the 25-26 Feb at Carousel from 9am-5pm. Don't know anything for the other states, sorry. However, you can try your hand at winning one.

Pricing
Amazon (idk currency specified)
Ghost Trick - $27.99
999 - $34.99
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - $29.80
Okamiden - $28.99
Pokémon Black/White - $34.99 (need to check if it's DSi enhanced)
Devil Survivor - $39.98 (same price as Overclocked preorders wat)
WoW: WotLK - $34.54
WoW: Cataclysm - $26.00
WoW: Cataclysm Collector's Edition - $79.99
Starcraft II - $59.99

Play-Asia (USD for now; currency displays in RM because of my loction)
Ghost Trick - $34.90
999 - $34.90
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - $34.90
Okamiden - $34.90
Devil Survivor - Out of Stock/Print?

JB Hi-Fi
Ghost Trick - $58.00
Pokémon Black/White (Pre-order w/ DS case) - $59.00
WoW: Cataclysm - $54.98

You know what. I think my local options are not going to be promising, so maybe I should stop checking.

That JB HiFi price is the best I've seen for pokeymans (EB had it for 68 wtf)

Also, read this and cry with me. http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/news/25187/

Awww, man, that price is not surprising but still annoying. That's nearly as much as the Wii cost on launch! And what I am always surprised at how badly the New Zealanders get screwed, it's not like there's that much difference in the exchange rate?

:/ I have seen Devil Survivor at some JBHiFis for $44 new, $30 secondhand, and Ghost Trick for $52 (though wouldn't surprise me if that were just a launch special). Have you tried Dick Smith Electronics? Their range is kind of sucky, but I managed to pick up Donkey Kong Country Returns a whole $15 cheaper than anywhere else. Also, can you actually import games from Amazon? Whenever I try, I'm always stopped by a message saying they won't import games to Australian addresses. Rage!

Yeah. So as much as I complain about how expensive software and hardware is in Australia, I always know that the kiwis get it worse than us ; A;

I haven't seen DeSu (I was under the impression that Devil Survivor only had an NA release, so apparently I'm wrong? orz) or Ghost Trick at all on my areas, whether it's DickSmith or EBGames (JB Hi-Fi's a bit out of the way for me). I haven't actually tried importing from Amazon yet, seeing as I haven't gotten my credit card, and I didn't realise that would be a problem @@. I'll have to try it out myself afterwards.

JB Hi-Fi sometimes has specials (usually on more mainstream stuff); I managed to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl for $50 instead of $80! Big W also usually has a cheaper price on games, but they generally cater to parents buying games for kids, so they don't have the likes of JRPGs. Sad day.

:S Actually, with Devil Survivor, I might be getting that confused with what I saw at GameTraders - I know they definitely had both new and used copies, but then, they import a lot of DS and PSP titles so I might have been looking at NTSC versions. (GameTraders stores are a bit thin on the ground these days though :(.) Ghost Trick is definitely out, though! (And is awesome). Maybe it's sold out? I was talking to a clerk at EB, and apparently a lot of stores underestimated the demand and only got in one or two copies.

Big W is awesome for savings, definitely. Sometimes you get lucky and they'll have stocked some of the more eclectic titles, don't give up! Most of the Big Ws here have a better range than EB these days. KMart has a surprisingly good selection too, their standard prices are a bit closer to EB-level highway robbery, but when they have sales you can get some really good bargains.

...Buying games in Australia is almost as much of a sport as playing them sometimes I swear.
