Okay so just character general interaction and talking to people has gotten me thinking that sometimes people don't look at context. I think I touched on this briefly before, when I was talking about how limited canon can be when you compare it to multifandom RP.

It's like. A character can be the biggest badass ever in their canon. But what happens when they meet the badasses from other canons who were the biggest badass in their canons? Obviously not everyone can be the biggest badass, and I do sometimes see people get kind of "no, my character is more badass than yours" and people OOCly get somewhat at loggerheads because they want their character to be the King of the Hill. I mean, most of the time I see this kind of thing when it comes to 'power levels' and it sorta becomes a Dragonball kind of thing where everyone's like MY POWER IS OVER 9000 and they keep on powering up and everyone else is like. why.

I think part of it's because they're not looking at the whole picture. They only remember that Character A was the biggest badass in their canon and not the hows and the whys of Character A's badassery.

Man, there was supposed to be a point to this but blah i forgot.

Nah, I get your point. Sometimes I do get that feeling, and occasionally people will get possessive because I'm sure part of the reason for apping a badass character... is because they are badass. So when another badass comes along, their immediate reaction is like "well mine is still more awsum than yours, he can walk on water like jesus" and they won't take a step back to acknowledge the other badass character properly. It's childish and stupid but I think we all do it, although perhaps to a lesser extent, with all our characters. Only we're maybe a little less blatant about it.

... Ten why did you mention both King of the Hill and Dragonball in the same post. That is so much do not want. 8(

Yeahhh. I know I do it with Joshua sometimes. But then I kind of step back and go. Well, while he's an omega dick and a bit of a sociopath in canon, Joshua is nowhere near as bad as some of the guys we have in TST. And then I feel slightly better at being so fail at plotting 8D;; Actually, aside from the fact there's a rule that's something along the lines of 'tone down powers if your character's a godmoder', the main reason I stripped Joshua's powers was because I knew I'd start doing the whole DBZ powerupping if I kept his powers.

Well, you had to go mention Jesus as well B|

I rather like Joshua the way he is, and I don't know what the extent of his powers are because I have yet to play TWEWY, I think you've done well with him. While I like having kickass dudes in game because it makes plotting so much more fascinating... there's that whole competition thing that happens that just makes arr pee not fun anymore.

BUT TENNNN, JESUS IS AWESOME

Basically Joshua's powers can be summed up in one word: God.

/brb apping Jesus

The issue with power struggles in multifandom RPs is that in any given canon there's always this unbeatable, untouchable, incomparable character(s), for whom "losing" is just... Incongruous to their characterisation. But it's stuff like this that makes panfandom RPs interesting in the end, I guessss.

[identity profile] tenshinoakuma.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
but wouldn't having a character unused to losing lose be something interesting to explore? >:

[identity profile] meta.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah that's why multifandom rps are interesting

[identity profile] meta.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
you've got me thinking about my OCs now and the fact that like half of the feralean population seriously needs to meet some panfandom characters who can beat the everliving shit out of them i'm not talking about anyone specific of course

[identity profile] tenshinoakuma.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
8D? 8D? 8D?

[identity profile] miir.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeeeeeeees. /rolls

It's fun to see characters who are more or less 'supreme' in their canon interact, really! Because someone (or everyone) loses, and really, losing is more interesting to write than winning.
