Sooo, back from the doctor's and it turns out I maaaaay have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) but it's not confirmed yet. Need to wait about a week or so I can get my (second!!) blood test results back. I'm not too worried about it despite having two of the three principal features, since the effects don't seem to be much more than inconvenient. Well okay some of them are kind of bad, but they seem easily treatable and not OH MY GOD YOU HAVE A FEW MONTHS TO LIVE urgent. And I don't seem to be showing signs of diabetes or obesity so... I guess I'm safe from that?
Oh yeah, it seems my PC might have up and died on me. Whelp, there goes everything. And I turned it on today just to see if I still had Ragnarok Online on it HAHAHA maybe it's a sign. I'm not sure I can be bothered finding a way to fix it. The only thing of worth on that thing are my first year Maths notes, some music.... art. Oh, and the printer and scanner that might not be able to work on my laptop. I'm not too fussed, I guess.
Also, How I Met Your Mother is amazing and I want to watch all the seasons now asdf;lkj

OKAY.
I will start off by saying that when I saw the RAWs, I wanted to punch Toto in the face. After reading DMW26 I still want to punch him in the face, but at least now I know why.
Things I need to cover:
1) How Toto views Deadment/his possessive streak
2) His voice and mannerisms
3) What is love?
4) Other misc things?
5) How this affects my playing (and perhaps a quick review of how I feel I've done so far)
1) Previously I made the educated guess that perhaps Toto has a certain possessive streak (in part due to his namesake and how the name Mockingbird is an obvious link to his abilities and possibly his personality. Also partially due to killing Hibana) with Deadman. Buuuuut in hindsight I don't think that's quite right; ultimately he sides with no one but himself and his interests. But who interests him? It's certainly not all the Deadmen. He interfered with the Carnival Corpse in DMW25, with no apparent reason. DMW26 seems to suggest that all the Deadmen gathered there were 'strong' ("In that last Corpse Carnival almost all the strong ones were injured..."), but in DMW25 I don't think Toto was there on their behalf. The two people he shows interest in are Ganta and Shiro. I don't think he was interested in Senji, just interested in grabbing an ability while having a little fun with him.
What commonality do Ganta and Shiro share? Why is Toto so interested in them?
Okay it'd be easy to say, Shiro = Wretched Egg, Toto has a massive boner for the Wretched Egg, Ganta is Shiro's friend! And while I do think his interest is partially interested in their relationship with each other, Toto's interest in Ganta didn't really pick up until Ganta blew up Nagi and Genkaku. I'm going out on a limb a little and thinking that maybe Toto likes the quiet ones who appear to be benign, but are capable of massive amounts of destruction. I guess in a way, people who have hidden power, when in the Carnival Corpse, Deadmen have every motivation to go all out right from the beginning, and I suppose there's a good chance of them losing/dying if they don't. So perhaps Toto wants to draw out that destructive nature? That's probably the reason why he was trying to manipulate Shiro when they first met. Buuut he's not stupid enough to get in over his head. Blah blah this is more a brain dump than anything. I kind of feel like I'm grasping at straws though.
MORE IS SUPPOSED TO GO HERE BUT GOD THERE ARE SO MANY DISTRACTIONS. some stuff about how he's an observer/meddler
2) Something that I don't think I quite have yet is Toto's voice and mannerisms. That's partially due to how freaking slow I tag + timezones + slowpaced game, but it generally boils down to lack of practice. And something I still haven't really got down are Toto's voice and mannerisms. The overall feeling I get from Toto is like... he smoothly transitions from child-like and playful to something older and more manipulative and condescending and back, and that's something I feel I haven't been able to capture ! There's a certain kind of poeticness about the way he says some things, an almost reverence tinging the words, and I feel I haven't been able to capture that, either. Nghhhh running out of energy to really brain dump okay everything is now in dot points.
- oh yeah Toto has pockets in his pants, huh! And actually uses them.
3) What is love? Baby don't hurt me.
But seriously, what does ~*love*~ mean in Toto's terms? I think I need to figure this out, because I'd rather not be tossing it about when I don't know what he means by said love.
Related to the stuff about voice, but more directly related to ~*love*~
DMW 24 - "Aha ☆ I don't feel like fighting~ But I'm happy that you still love me ☆"
DMW 24 - "'Forgeries'. It means that they're fake. Just fake Deadmen, created for 'humanity's sake'. That's right... There's no love there."
DMW 24 - "Aha ☆ Eat and celebrate everyone! Accept my love! ☆"
DMW 24 - "The Wretched Egg is unique. The beginning and end of all sins. Comedy and tragedy. Strength and weakness. Life and death. Love and hate. It embraces all these contradictions... I love it."
DMW 25 - "I'm sorry if I'm not what you expected... Well, I'm only in this body for the moment. I'll judge you with my love ☆"
DMW 25 - "Well then, shall we? My lover's vow is nearly over~"
DMW 26 - "Ah ha! ☆ There you go again with that superficial love ☆" RE: "An ally of justice?" <-- !!!!!!

4) I've noticed that ever since the Snoopy Cool scanlations, Toto hasn't refered to himself in mixed gender. I'm not sure if it's because Toto has gotten a better grip on his mind or something, or if the manga-kas hadn't really come up with a solid characterisation for Toto at the time of the Snoopy Cool scanlations (a possibility, since he also wasn't wearing a collar). I'm sort of thinking it might be a combination of both, though.
- Toto is a Chariot, I think.
5) DMW26 actually makes my playing easier ! A+ am not complaining

No, it's a sign I shouldn't be playing! I was even taking a chance to get the files off my computer, and get your server's patcher to redo stuff so I wouldn't have to download >1gb but clearly it was not meant to be.

Also, iirc. . . he hasn't referred to himself in the swapping "I" for a while. I thought it might have been since he was "recently returned" which is why his speaking/mannerisms were so off and the "reset" happened. He had a hard time remembering his name too, iirc? I could check my raws for the 私／僕 swap but I think he's been more consistent that way.
