[DeSu 2] 4th Day - Intermission: Demons, Apps and Terminals
< Prev | Index | Next >
[Omotesando - Omotesando] [14:00]
You find Io lost in thought...
Io: Hm... But then... Hmm...
> BOO!
> Is something wrong?
Io: You know how our summoning app lets us control demons?
> So?
> Yeah.
Io: I've needed them to survive, but... I think we should give them more thought...
> You think so?
> Sure. I'll help.
Io: So I get the feeling they must have something to do with the cause of it...
Io: Hey, Hiro... Where do you think demons go when they're not summoned...?
> They disappear.
> They're somewhere.
Io: Oh, I see... Then how do they appear so quickly when we summon them...?
> How should I know?
> It is a mystery.
Io: One moment they're not there, and the next they are... How can that happen?
> Kinda like the Terminal.
> It's not the only thing.
Io: True... The Terminal lets you be in Tokyo one moment, and then Osaka the next.
Io: For someone in Osaka, it would seem like you appeared out of thin air...
> Good thinking, Io.
> That's right.
Io: Wait, but then... how does the Terminal work...?
> Why not ask around?
> Who knows?
Io: Let's see... who's in JP's that would know about the Terminal? Fumi, maybe...?
Io: Yes, I'm sure Fumi would know... I'll try asking her next time I see her.
> I'll help.
> Good luck.
You say your farewells to Io and leave the area...
[Nisaya Odori - Nagoya Branch] [14:30]
(This is actually a mandatory event on the 5th day, 22:30, but I decided it was better to keep these three related events together)
Fumi's Lab
You find Io talking to Fumi...
Fumi: Erm... are you that girl who was with Hiro? What do you need from me?
Io: Um... well...
> What's up?
> Someone say my name?
Io: Ah! Oh, Hiro... You surprised me...
Fumi: Hello, Hiro? What's up? Haha, what was this girl's name again? I forgot.
> She's Io.
> That's mean.
Io: A-Anyway, I came to ask Fumi about the Terminal.
> The Terminal?
> About how it works?
Io: Yeah... the way demons appear when summoned is a lot like the Terminal...
Fumi: Huh. That's why you're here? You want to know how the Terminal works?
Io: Um, yes, that's right. Er... can you tell us?
Fumi: Well, okay. But the Terminal actually wasn't completely developed by JP's.
Fumi: It runs off OOPArts passed down through the Chief's family.
Fumi: His ancestors were missionaries to Tang China during the nara period...
Fumi: Oh, if you didn't know, OOPArts is a term meaning something too advanced for that period.
Fumi: This one's interesting because of the neutral oscillation in particle physics...
Fumi: When amplifying it to a certain level, a physical change occurs in the affected matter--
> Whoa, slow down.
> My brain hurts.
Fumi: Hm? Did I say something strange? What about that didn't you understand?
Io: Um... everything...?
> Really?
> Same here.
Io: Um... c-could you explain it in a really general way...?
> Give us an example.
> Bottom-line it for us.
Fumi: Hmm... well, all right...
Fumi: Basically, it breaks down the matter's data, converts that to a signal and sends it.
Fumi: Then the technology on the receiving end uses that data to reconstruct it...
Fumi: Ugh, this sounds so stupid when I put it in such general terms. What nonsense.
> I get it now.
> I still don't get it.
Io: But... breaking a person down into information... is that even possible?
Fumi: Hm? Of course. Everything in this world is made of matter based on information.
> Really?
> Right.
Io: Umm, Hiro... We've heard all we need to, right...?
Fumi: Thus, of the 29 elements in your body, 98.4% of it is a mere four elements, and...
Fumi drones on and on...
> Let's get out of here.
> Let's sort this out later.
Io: Y-Yeah...
You quietly leave with Io...
[Shibuya - Shibuya 901] [15:00]
(This is actually a mandatory event on the 6th day, 11:30, but I decided it was better to keep these three related events together for now)
You find Io staring off into space...
> Wake up.
> Hey, it's me.
Io: Oh, Hiro... S-Sorry...
Io: I was, uh, just trying to sort out what Fumi told us about the Terminal...
> Oh, that.
> Let me help you.
Io: The reason the Terminal can transport people is that we're just information too, right?
> Right.
> And?
Io: Mm... so what about demons?
> Them too, I'd think.
> I don't think so.
Io: I mean, demons appear out of thin air, right?
Io: Wouldn't that suggest their data is received from somewhere and recreated from that...?
> Yeah.
> Would it?
Io: But if that's true... where would the demons' information come from?
> Good question.
> Yeah...
Io: Yeah, because when the Terminal sends people, there's a place they come from...
Io: Then are demons somewhere else before they're summoned by the app?
> I don't know.
> That may be.
Io: Yeah... We can't say for sure, because there's no way to confirm it...
Io: But the demon's location, the cause of the calamity, and the Septentriones...
Io: What if they're all related? Hmm... but what is there to connect them all...?
Io seems lost in thought...
Io: Oh, sorry... Um, I'll try thinking about it some more.
Io: We still don't know much, but I think we've made some progress... Thanks, Hiro.
You say your farewells to Io and leave the area...

Demon Inquiry
[Omotesando - Omotesando] [14:00]
You find Io lost in thought...
Io: Hm... But then... Hmm...
Io: Ah...! Oh, Hiro. You surprised me...> Sorry.Io: No... I'm fine. I was just thinking...
> Is something wrong?Io: Oh... Well, anyway, I was just thinking...
> Is something wrong?
Io: Hm...? Oh, Hiro. I was just thinking...
Io: You know how our summoning app lets us control demons?
Io: Oh, well, um... We don't know anything about what demons actually are.
> Yeah.
Io: Well... we don't know anything about what demons actually are.
Io: I've needed them to survive, but... I think we should give them more thought...
Io: Y-Yeah... The demons first showed up when the calamity started...
> Sure. I'll help.
Io: Mm, thank you... You know, the demons first showed up when the calamity started...
Io: So I get the feeling they must have something to do with the cause of it...
Io: Hey, Hiro... Where do you think demons go when they're not summoned...?
> They're somewhere.
Io: Oh, I see... Then how do they appear so quickly when we summon them...?
Io: Ah, er... S-Sorry to ask such weird questions...
> It is a mystery.
Io: Yeah... that's the part I can't figure out.
Io: One moment they're not there, and the next they are... How can that happen?
Io: The Terminal? Oh, right... It is a bit similar.
> It's not the only thing.
Io: It's not? What else appears so suddenly...? Oh! You mean the Terminal...
Io: True... The Terminal lets you be in Tokyo one moment, and then Osaka the next.
Io: For someone in Osaka, it would seem like you appeared out of thin air...
Io: Huh...? Oh, no, you're the one who brought it up. Thanks...
> That's right.
Io: Yep... pretty amazing! That's our Hiro!
Io: Wait, but then... how does the Terminal work...?
Io: Hm? Oh, right... I could just ask someone in JP's.
> Who knows?
Io: Yeah... we're not JP's members, so we have no way of knowing...
Io: Wait... Hey, yeah, I could just ask someone in JP's.
Io: Let's see... who's in JP's that would know about the Terminal? Fumi, maybe...?
Io: Yes, I'm sure Fumi would know... I'll try asking her next time I see her.
Io: Ah, thanks! I'm sure we can figure this out if we look into it...
Io: Let's give it a try!
> Good luck.
Io: Oh... yeah, I'll work on it... I'm sure if I look into this, it'll become clearer...
You say your farewells to Io and leave the area...

Io: I-It was Io... Io Nitta...
Fumi: Oh. Really...? Huh.
> That's mean.
Fumi: I suppose, but she has that sort of insubstantial air about her.
Io: N-No, I don't... Do I...?
Fumi: Haha, you see? It's no wonder I can't remember who you are.
Io: A-Anyway, I came to ask Fumi about the Terminal.

Fumi: Basically, it breaks down the matter's data, converts that to a signal and sends it.
