As you walk down the road, you hear a familiar voice...

There seems to be some commotion up ahead...

[Makoto chases two people up to the shrine before getting out her cell phone.]

Makoto: There's nowhere left for you to run to. Now tell me how you got the summoning app.

App Abuser (Salaryman): D-Dammit... What is up with this bitch?

[A demon appears! Another app abuser appears behind Makoto.]

App Abuser (Punk): Hah... You let your guard down! Now's our chance!

Makoto: What...!? You still had allies!?

App Abuser (Punk): We can do whatever we want with demons! Here's another!

[Another demon appears.]

App Abuser (Salaryman): Hahahahaha! Who's losing now, bitch!?

[More demons appear.]

Makoto: Dammit...

[The party arrives onto the scene.]

Io: Hey...! Makoto!

Makoto: You guys... Just in time!

App Abuser (Punk): Crap, she's got backup too! Let's get outta here!
App Abuser (Punk): We should be able to escape if we can get over there... Hurry!

Makoto: ......! Kageyama, don't let them go!

> Why not?

Makoto: These people have been using the summoning app to have demons attack civilians!
Makoto: I can't allow them to roam free! We have to destroy their cell phones!

> You got it!

Makoto: Be careful! They've been abusing the summoning app!

[Battle Start!]

App Abuser (Salaryman): Oh, crap... I don't want to get caught!

App Abuser (Young Man): Dammit... Leave me alone!

App Abuser (Punk): Hmph...! I'm getting out of here! I don't care what I have to do!

[Male Tico.]

Tico: Master Hiro, are you still alive?
Tico: Since you have accumulated a reasonable level of experience, we will add the Macca Bonus.
Tico: Would you like to hear an explanation of this feature?

Joe: Hm...? Macca bonus? Sounds like you could really rake in some scratch.

> Yes.
Tico: Very well, allow me to explain.
Tico: A Macca Bonus can be earned depending on the outcomes of your battles.
Tico: Getting extra turn in battles, defeating enemies without taking damage, defeating them
Tico: in one turn, and other things will earn you more Macca. Try to earn as much as you can.
Tico: However, if your allies are defeated or your attacks get reflected or absorbed...
Tico: You might not be able to earn the extra Macca from that battle.

Io: So if we beat enemies quick or without getting hurt, we get Macca bonuses?
Io: That means we should be using a lot of strategy in battle!

> No.
(Conversation continues.)

Tico: From this point on, bonus results will be displayed after your battles.
Tico: A text message will be sent to you later with details about each bonus.

[Female Tico.]

Tico: Hey hey, are you still alive? Tico here!
Tico: You seem to be getting better at battles, so we're gonna add the Macca Bonus feature!
Tico: Do you need me to explain the Macca Bonus?

Joe: Hm...? Macca bonus? Sounds like you could really rake in some scratch.

Tico: Oh, but if your allies get defeated, or your attacks are absorbed or reflected... then you might not get any extra Macca at all. So keep that in mind, okay?

Tico: After now, you'll be seeing the bonus results after your battles!

[If you defeat demons before defeating the app abusers, on their turn.]
App Abuser: Ugh! I'm summoning another one! That'll buy me enough time to escape!

App Abuser: Ugh, so strong... How about this, then!?

App Abuser: Ptcht... Not yet! Here, play with some more demons!

App Abuser: What the heck...!? Time to die!

[One of the App Abusers will summon a stronger demon: Gagyson.]
App Abuser: Aw, dammit! Now I need to summon this guy.

Gagyson: Heh heh! You're bold to summon me.
Gagyson: So...? Which one do you want me to kill? I'll get the job done.

Makoto: Ugh... What a pain! This demon's a strong one! Watch out!

[Attacking an App Abuser.]
App Abuser (Punk): What!? You wanna die?
App Abuser (Salaryman): D-Don't come near me! Leave me alone!
App Abuser (Young Man): Why are you punishing us? You're using demons, too!

[When Makoto attacks an App Abuser.]
Makoto: To misuse these powers in this chaotic world is absolutely unacceptable...!
Makoto: Hand over your cell phone!

[Defeating an App Abuser.]
App Abuser (Punk): Gah! You bastards!
You take his cell phone away...

App Abuser (Salaryman): Aaaaaah! Please, let me go!
You take away his cell phone...

App Abuser (Young Man): Ugh... Bastard!
You confiscate his cell phone...

[Defeating the Gagyson.]
Gagyson: Gwaaagh...! I can't believe... I was defeated by a human...

[Once you've dealt with all the App Abusers. What's said depends on who defeats them.]
(Hiro)It seems the app abusers have been dealt with...
You should defeat the leftover demons, just to be safe...

Daichi: I guess they're all gone now...?
Daichi: Now, what do we do about the remaining demons...? We... have to fight them...!

Io: ...It seems those people are gone now.
Io: But there are still demons left... so we have to keep fighting them...!

Joe: ...Looks like those guys are gone.
Joe: Guess we'd better take down those demons, huh?

[If an App Abuser escapes.]
App Abuser (Punk): Hee hee! I'm as good as gone! Bye!
Makoto: Oh, no...! Kage, what are you doing!? We've got to catch one of them!

App Abuser (Salaryman): All right, I got here! Later, losers!

App Abuser (Young Man): Yes! I made it! Adios, suckers!

[If all three App Abusers escape.]
Joe: Oops... They all made it out of here.

[Upon defeating all app abusers and all demons.]
Makoto: ...It's over. Good job, everyone.

All the confiscated cell phones have been destroyed...

Makoto: ...My apologies, Kageyama. I needed your help again.

> It was nothing.

Makoto smiles...

Makoto: You're an impressive young man. Such emotional strength, even in a tense situation...

> That was exhausting.

Makoto averts her eyes...

Makoto: I'm sorry. If only I was more competent, I wouldn't have drawn you into this.

> Things seem pretty tough.

Makoto looks at you seriously...

Makoto: No... This is the reason JP's exists. We have to be the ones to take care of this.

Makoto: It looks like a lot more people accessed Nicaea than we had accounted for.
Makoto: If the world wasn't in such a state, there probably wouldn't be so many abusing it...

The atmosphere seems to have improved...

Hiro's cell phone is ringing...

Io: Hm!? Wait... Are you getting a call? How...?

> Answer the call

(Conversation continues.)

Io: You think...? They usually send an email, though...

Yamato: Kageyama? This is Yamato.

Yamato: I made the decision to register your phone with JP's' base.
Yamato: Shijima and Nitta's phones should connect soon as well.

Yamato: By the way, I asked Akie to pass along a message. Has he done so?

[Yamato ends the call.]

Io: Um... Who was that?

> It was Yamato.

Io: JP's' chief...? Oh... Was it about him wanting to see us?

> No one, really.

Io: Oh... S-Sorry. I wasn't trying to pry or anything...

> It wasn't Nicaea.

Io: Huh? Oh... okay. Sorry for the weird question...

Daichi: Whoa! I'm getting service again!

Joe: Heyyy... You're right. I've got full bars now.

Io: Thank goodness... But how?

It seems everyone's cell phones are connected again...

> Yamato did it.
> It's a JP's thing.

Io: Oh? The Chief connected it for us?

Daichi: Awww, he's not such a bad guy after all! Let's see here...

Daichi makes a call...

[An automated voice says, "The number that you have dialled could not be reached."]

Daichi: It's not connecting. What the hell!? It's totally useless!

Joe: Is that so? Huh... Let me give it a whirl...

Io: Um... You guys... It's probably because, um...

Io seems to want to say something...

> What is it?

Io: Oh... Yes. Thanks.

> Spit it out.

Io: Oh... Right. Sorry.

Io: Well... the reason we can use our cells is because they're in the JP's system now, right...?
Io: But our phones back home and our friends' phones... those haven't been...

Joe: Ohhh, I getcha. So the only folks we can call are JP's people.

Daichi: Whaaaaa...!? What's the deal with that? Talk about a useless system...

Joe: Yeah, exactly. I mean, at the least, us four can keep in touch, right?

> Totally.

Joe: You think...? But at the least, us four can keep in touch, right?

Joe: I'd say that's better than having no way to contact each other at all.

Daichi: Hmm, yeah, I suppose.

Io: Mmm-hmm... In our situation, that's more than enough to make me happy...

Joe: Yeah, I'm a happy camper too. Well then! Uhh, where were we going?

Daichi: ...To JP's! Sheesh, this guy's got the attention span of a goldfish...

SUBJECT: Re: Macca Bonus

Macca Bonuses give you more Macca at the end of a skirmish, depending on your actions:

TECHNICAL: +5% for every Extra Turn added or removed from allies or enemies

NO DAMAGE: +20% if you have taken no damage by the end of a skirmish

OVERWHELM: +30% if you defeat all three enemies in a single skirmish

CASUALTY: -30% for each ally KO'd in a skirmish

SHIELD: +20% for a Null, Drain, or Repel activated by your team; -20% for each activated by the enemy. Total cannot exceed +/-20%

A negative Macca Bonus at the end of a skirmish will not result in the loss of any Macca.
