Multi-purpose post! (i.e. multiple ramblings, all unrelated)

Okay so I've kind of been following Masterchef Australia in the past two weeks. For those who don't know, it's basically a cooking competition for amateur chefs. Sort of like uh. Idol or So You Think You Can Dance, only. You know. Cooking. (I live vicariously through them, maybe) Today was the last elimination round before the finals, where there would only be two amateur chefs, selected from what, 7500 chefs, who will take the price.

So, as I was watching the elimination, in which the last guy was eliminated from the competition. And I slowly realised, to my absolute horror, that I shipped Chris and Poh together.

w-what the hell. I NEVER DO THIS WHAT THE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL.

So I've been craving some new DS games lately, and I totally forgot that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor had come out some time ago.

So. Now I have it.

And I can't stop playing it.

If I was to compare it to the games I've played recently that I love, no, it's not quite up there. The script doesn't feel nearly as natural and flowing as it does in TWEWY or Persona 4, but it's satisfactory. (Yuzu, your main female character, is kind of annoying to me, though. As many 'main' female characters tend to be :| ) But it's addicting. And, as is the case with the Atlus games I've played (Persona 3 and 4, The Dark Spire), Devil Survivor is Atlus hard, especially since I don't have an instruction booklet to work from (though I don't even know if it would be helpful). So. Initial learning curve is ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH I'M DYING, then it mellows out a bit, and then AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH I'M DYING. I think I've gotten used to it some (or rather, I've realised that I don't lose the demons I summon permanently when they die in battle :| ). My main problem is figuring out turn order when you're actually fighting, since I can only view my team info summaries, not detailed stats, which means I can't see their agility (the stat that affects turn order in battle :| )

But less technical blah blah blah. I do have to admit that the gameplay is the main hook for me right now. I'm just hoping that I don't lose patience with the gameplay, and thus lose interest in the game. Besides, the MC is pretty cute. And has pink pants. But his headphones ! They make him look like he's got kitty ears ♥

I named my MC Yeshua Kiryuu, nickname Joshua (Yoshiya wouldn't fit :< ). And oh my god it's just like TWEWY again. Not only did Joshua begin absolutely useless, he was too slow so he kept on getting hit and dying. JUST LIKE IN CANON. Not only that, the enemies would completely ignore his flanking demons (the flanking demons basically give Joshua boosts to defence) and go right for Joshua. And kill him hahaha. I wonder if they're attracted by his asshole name...? But now it's all good! Because Joshua is very fat and can take those hits like a man ! 8D;;

List of things I found amusing, comparing it to other things I know:
- SEVEN DAYS. Almost everyone has a maximum of 7 days to live.
- DEATHCLOCK. Much like the twewy timer, except it's seen above the head, and only appears if someone has less than 10 days to live.
- 'SUP SHIBUYA. Except Survivor actually takes place in the whole of the Yamamote line, rather than just Shibuya.
- NAOYA. Who looks like a Joshua + Gin lovechild or something. He looks more creepy in game. He's also the MC's cousin.
- THE ACTUAL GIN (for whom I cannot find a picture of). He looks like Diego Armando, and has Mr H's job (in the guardian sense). Incidentally, he owns a bar. Maybe he's Mr. H's long lost relative? ... I can see this.
- I KEEP ON GETTING HIT ON BY MY DEMONS.
- Also, Garm is adorable.

Greatest description for sex I've heard in a while. "It's like bobbing for an onion." (or apple, whatev)
