Watched Enchanted the other day! I don't actually have that much to say about it. It was cute and enjoyable! But isn't the kind of movie I would watch again.
Sadly, Tales of the Abyss does not work with someone's fail PS2 |D
Onto the meat of this entry: Persona 3. It works, with me doing some slightly dodgey things :|
I'm enjoying Persona 3 a lot more than I expected to! I came into the game expecting to get bored of it really fast, because while I loved the art and stuff for it, the gameplay seemed really 8| from what I'd read.
Well! I'm not really far into the game yet, but still.
Gameplay wise, RE: Tartarus, it reminds me a lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, actually. In the sense you're adventuring through randomly generated dungeons and looking for the staircase to the next level. And you can't go back. Also, can't control your teammates, but for the most part, their AI does what I want them to do, and isn't stupid. It suffers from the same problem in PMD2 though, in that if the team leader (who's the only one you really control) is stunned or otherwise incapacitated, I can't change the tactics of the other teammembers. Which can be really bad if the others aren't on Act Freely or Heal/Support.
I really like how you get a bonus turn if you strike the enemy's weak point! And if the enemy misses you with a strike or slash attack, it's possible for them to stumble, which leaves openings for you to exploit! It works in reverse too... but it's like, these things can really turn the tide of battle, especially if you get the chance to do an All Out Attack, which is super cute hahahah.
Battle encounters aren't too bad, since I can avoid them if I really cbfed fighting, though the whole getting tired thing makes me DDD: I've actually wiped a few times in P3 hahaha but difficulty isn't too bad, definitely tougher than the newer FFs (I haven't played FFIV hard and earlier, so I can't really say all FFs), probably about Mother 3 difficulty if I didn't abuse save states so much in that game. Had to turtle a bit against the first Chariot boss though orz.
Menu system is a little annoying though, because I have to talk to each party member to see their stats and stuff (or to Mitsuru), and it's annoying that if I want to buy stuff for my other teammates, if I can't remember the armour of their equipment, I can't check it. But for the most part, it's tolerable. I still don't know what some of the stats do though.
Only other gripe right now is the number of loading screens I have to pass through, though luckily the load times are pretty short.
I'm usually a bit :| about games with voice talking with text boxes telling you what they're about to say (especially since I was playing FFX earlier). But in P3 it's a lot less annoying, since there's no need for the VAs to lip synch, which means no awkward phrasing or sound/video unsych that was in FFX. And the VAs in P3 are quite good. I especially love Stupei Junpei's and Yukari's VAs, and Akihiko's VA shouldn't ping me as hard as it actually does * A* ... Actually, I like pretty much all the VAs in P3.
Also, the sprites are super cute (both the artwork ones and... well movement ones I guess). I can stare at Mitsuru's hand gestures forever * A* And i just realised Persona 3, when smushed together (Persona3) looks like personae ahahaha.
