DDS gameblog aka HEEEAAAAAAT WHY ARE YOU SO FUNNY
THIS TOWERRRRRR IT'S LIKE P3 ALL OVER AGAIN. ALL THE STAIRS.
Firstly, when my friend and I got to this scene, we killed ourselves laughing at 4:16. "Well, uh... I mean that... You can't be a comrade alone. That's ridiculous." COULDN'T. BREATHE.
In fact we were laughing so hard I totally missed what happened immediately after that.
For some reason we take far too much amusement with Heat. I mean, I really cannot condone some of the actions he takes, but his squishy centre is just way too hilarious. I've also sort of taken to blaming anything going wrong on Heat. Getting ambushed a lot? Heat's fault. Enemy getting killed when I didn't want it to be? Heat's fault. Countering an enemy with Physical Repel? DAMMIT HEAT!
He's also the only one with a charm attack, so he's also now irresistible~~~ ♥ The ladies are just all over him. There's just too much funny to properly convey in this post. Stuff like Serph getting confused and hitting Heat, only to have Heat punch him back is just fha;sdfklhasd;fhhg
Gameplay Notes
I was spoiled early on that Heat becomes somewhat of a liability late game because of all the enemies that are Physical Immune or worse. But I don't think that is necessarily true. Unless you build your Serph for it (I did not), Heat is the best character to use for devouring enemies due to his high Strength. You pretty much do not need anyone else on the Devour line of mantras unless you want Wikipedia or Destroyer; I had a single person as dedicated devourer, which frees up skills for the other two characters. Additionally, if you have someone with Cocytus, frozen enemies lose their Physical immunity/drain/repel, so Heat is still viable. I also use him to debuff/void element/hama/etc. basically skills that don't actually rely on his magic stat, so he does have a good amount of utility. Magic hurts a ton, though, but I've sort of gotten used to working around it the same way I've gotten used to working around how Argilla gets hurt a lot if you punch her.
Aside from how the stats are magic biased, the real reason Heat just can't keep up with magic damage (on bosses) is because physical attacks are not boosted in any way in DDS, unlike Devil Survivor. There's no such thing as Physical Boost, or Physical Amp, and skills such as Critical, MIN/MAX Critical do not apply to attack skills like Death Blow. Then you have things like a lack of Pierce, and it can get troublesome working with him. But he works well in combination with frozen enemies, and in some ways, you know he's going to do decent damage even though he doesn't have appropriate boosting skills, which frees up more space for utility spells.
Devouring is also a million times easier with Heat, since I was doing it with Serph...... who currently has 6 strength. Compare that with Heat's like. 30-40+ strength it's like HA HA HA HEAT WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE.
I've sort of stuck with Serph, Argilla and Heat after taking down Vasuki, since they are a holy trinity of DIE. While the other two aren't bad by any means, I like to have more damage output, especially since I like to be "the best defence is a good offence" with these sorts of games.
