dissidiaaaaa >_<9
Sooo I went back to playing Dissidia to put off doing the escort quest in BBS. BBS does have a lot of good things about it, but I think just my general escort quest + camera frustrations made me focus on the bad stuff. I'll probably get to those in a later update, I guess!
I started off playing Cloud, intending to go level him up some so I could take on Chaos, buuut I decided to play Firion instead because he's the character I enjoy playing most (out of the remaining Team Cosmos characters who I haven't beaten Chaos with yet). tl;dr I slaughtered Chaos, by virtue of being about 27 levels higher than him. For the record, in the original game, equipping a counter summon doesn't stop Chaos from summoning.
Went back and got all the DP rewards for Shade Impulse 1 with Onion Knight (going from Firion to Onion Knight with Speed Boost++ is like... freedom) and decided to try the Blackjack Course in Duel Coliseum (aka level 100-150 enemies aka THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE). Didn't do too badly at first... until I was dumb and took a Time Mage card and increased my card luck and thus spawning super tough dudes that do 2k brave damage per hit! The Treasures don't seem to be worth it (resins etc.) so I'm probably not going to go there until I'm better geared.
Which lead me to go to the level 90-120 course. I mean... I don't mind it so much, and I did manage to get some treasure, but when every fight is gut wrenchingly terrifyingly close, there's only so much I can do before I slip up and get slaughtered.
Sooo I went to grind Drops and Gems off the various friend cards you can get in game, switching up my accessories to get stupid high booster percentages for battlegen. Although speaking of boosters, I get some really weird percentages. Like. I was getting 10.9x when my boosters should only add up to 10.2x, and somehow lighting up one of the boosters (which is a 1.5x booster) changes the percentage from ~7.5x to 10.9x. How does that even work? Very strange :|a
I also managed to get 100% completion on the Battlegen list in game \o/ Before I went back to grinding Drops since I need them for better than level 78 gear :|a
BUT. CECIL. JUST WILL NOT DROP THE STUPID RED GEM DESPITE ALL MY EFFORTS. Every single battlegen accessory dropped, even the ones with much lower drop percentage than the red gem (some of them even dropped multiple times) yet the red gem just would not drop despite all my efforts. And it's not like it's a particularly low chance of drop, either. Like. It's 13.5% per bravery break, not including booster percentages with a Moonrise (1.5 battlegen). SO FRUSTRATING. I didn't manage to get it before the next day :|
I GUESS THIS IS A POST ABOUT ME COMPLAINING ABOUT LOUSY LUCK.
Aside from that, I think playing Onion Knight gives me a greater appreciation for the limitations of each character's attacks. I mean. You kind of pick up on these things when you use the character in question yourself, but I haven't exactly gotten around to playing all the characters yet. Like... maybe it's because I kind of play a high risk Onion Knight, but I find I'm often skirting the edges of hit boxes to avoid attacks/make an attack. I'm always having to make a decision between using his speediness to avoid attacks, or dodging, and it's usually when I just slightly underestimate an attacks' reach is when I lose most often. I'm not getting as horribly mauled by Paladin!Cecil any more (only lightly mauled) because I finally learnt how to not get repeatedly Saint's Falled :| I always forget that Onion Knight can't actually outrun a lot of Dark Knight ground bravery attacks, though * A*a
The AI also changes its behaviour if you have Snooze or Lose equipped. It's generally more aggressive in order to avoid Snooze or Lose from activating, making random attacks at thin air if you're out of reach. This is wonderful for me, since fighting a defensive AI/player with Onion Knight is one of the less than ideal scenarios.
But outside of item drops grinding, I'm unsure of whether I actually need so many boosters. Ideally I'd like to have a high percentage for high Iai Strike chance, but at the same time, I could also boost my base bravery through Special Accessories, which, if Iai Strike doesn't happen (which it hasn't been lately), allows me to not need to land as many hits. Additionally, I don't know if I want to get his exclusive weapons, since those are all swords, and I've been using staves (I think?), which boost my base bravery. I made the conscious choice to focus on boosting base bravery as much as possible, since it's pretty much pointless using bravery-bravery when my damage is so minuscule. This is why I'm not sure whether I want the Onion Sword (+15% Damage) since most of the time I'm hitting for so little damage it's ridiculous. However, it does have a Major Gambler's Spirit effect, which boosts crit rate when afflicted by break... but with the bravery regen items I have, breaks don't... last very long :|a
DECISIONS.
BAH JUST GIVE ME MY NIRVANA STAFF AND I'LL BE DONE WITH IT ALL. Cloud of Darkness' exclusive has +40% Bravery Regen. Now why can't Onion Knight have that? )':
