Devil Survivor blather + rumoured 3DS region locking
I finished that Devil Survivor/TWEWY oneshot and got a review on FFnet obscenely fast that has got me into thinking of writing the 7 days of the Tokyo Lockdown from the POV of Neku and gang.
I'd probably try and write it in such a way that it supplements the original Devil Survivor canon, so it's still the MC and gang that's deciding the ultimate outcome, while Neku and gang, who don't have the resources and information of the MC and gang (I'm thinking 1 or 2 COMPs between the group of 4) will be focused more on surviving rather than fixing things. Although, that doesn't mean they aren't going to try digging around for information and such, so maybe they have a lot of contact with Shoji. The information they provide being the information Shoji provides to MC and gang, and the information MC and gang provides Shoji the information that gets passed on to Neku and gang.
Of course, then you have all the Reapers and Mr. H and Joshua's side, who are all in disarray. Though Neku and gang won't be able to communicate with the Reapers unless they're inside a building with a decal... which will be very difficult given the current situation.
All in all, I'll probably need to canon review to really make the most out of this. However, seeing as my Devil Survivor saves were wiped with a software update, I'm actually considering buying the Devil Survivor Overclocked. If I'm going to buy a Devil Survivor, I might as well get the extended version. But there are going to be issues:
1) Will they translate Overclocked into English (I hope so)
2) Will Nintendo decide to region lock the 3DS (signs are apparently pointing to 'yes', which leads to the next point)
3) Will they release Overclocked in PAL/AU?
The rumoured region locking of the 3DS worries me a lot, because most of Atlus' games don't ever make it to Australia. I think the exceptions to that are the Trauma Center series, P3/P3:FES (yes, that's right, Australia doesn't get P3P), the first DDS and Catherine (which is TBA). So yeah, pretty much most of the Atlus games I enjoy, I'm going to have to import because Australia never gets a release (at least as far as I know). Region lock is just yet another annoyance that makes it harder to buy legit.
